Martijn is a self-taught Dutch artist. In daily life he is director of a large communication agency in The Netherlands. When he was 19 years old he had to choose between studying Dutch literature or going to an Art school. It was a hard choice. He went to the University of Nijmegen to study literature. Because of his focus on literature, he neglected the visual arts. Although he continued to draw in his spare time, his main focus was writing. In 2021 he took up drawing seriously again and started a project in which he draws 100 portraits. The main goal for him is to (re)discover his own style. He experiments with different materials. Not only graphite and charcoal but also pen and an iPad. He is also interested in all kind of styles. From realistic portraits to comics.
